Buck and Dan survey the ridge.

Buck and Jocko survey the ridge. Buck has grown his business from scratch. His love of horses, open air, hard work and kind countenance has brought him through this life of adventure.

At the start, Buck was a man of confidence.  He started his own business at a young age, after serving in the U.S. Air Force  during the Korean War. Having worked on a ranch while growing up, and later as a ranch hand on many northern California ranching outfits, it was only natural that something to do with horses would carve his vision for business. With his outgoing personality,he had a natural knack for successfully matching horses with people. Thus began a chain of 20 riding clubs, pack stations, and trail riding outfits in California, Nevada, and Arizona. During the era of TV westerns, Buck supplied horses, wagons, stagecoaches, and other livestock for many shows and movies, including the Bonanza series at the famous Ponderosa Ranch in Incline Village, Nev.

These days, Buck has transitioned into commercial real estate investments, but still partners with his daughter Debbie Butts, on ranchlands in the Sierra foothills where Debbie trains horses for ranch work.

His vacation home in Incline Village is available for rent. A wonderful experience.
